About me



I'm a half Finnish designer who has since taken a break to bring up my children. I used to work in Graphic Design, but now I prefer working with textiles and illustration. This blog is about my allotment and garden. I have been gardening for many years and grew up watching my mum and dad do the same. I began my allotment in Jan 2010 in memory of my father who passed a way just before then. I also love cooking and finding inventive and delicious ways to make my produce into meals. I'm growing with my experiences, and welcome any helpful advice! Sometime soon I hope to use my garden as inspiration for my art.

Been away but back for 2011

I've obviously been absent for a fair few months. The allotment kind of took care of itself from June onwards and I let it run away for a while! I have some pics below showing the plot from June to October. Here is a list of successes and failures of 2010:

Successes:
Carrots (early Nantes 2) and late variety (need to look up)
Onions
Pea, dark skin perfection (italian seeds)
Parsnips
Squash, butternut Avalon F1
Salad leaves, Suttons speedy cut and come again

Failures

Things I wouldn't bother with again
Asparagus pea
Spumina Greens? very bitter
Romanesco Courgette (italian seeds) ridged, very dry
